Clarity from Complexity
I map journeys, pain points, and policy constraints into a blueprint you can act on. Research-grounded and written in language the team will actually use.
I help governments and mission-driven organisations design services that work for the people using them and the public servants delivering them. When I leave, your team is stronger than I found it.
Whether I'm embedded with your team for months or brought in for a focused engagement, the approach stays the same: solve the problem in front of you, while building the team's ability to handle the next one.
I map journeys, pain points, and policy constraints into a blueprint you can act on. Research-grounded and written in language the team will actually use.
I help leadership make confident decisions about technology, delivery, and organisational change. The output is a strategy you can act on, concrete enough to start Monday and flexible enough to adapt when things change.
I work alongside your team to ship while transferring skills in real-time. When I leave, you're stronger than I found you.

Brian Hendrick
Principal and Founder
I spent my career inside government, leading service design and product teams at organizations including the Government Digital Service, Ministry of Justice, and Canadian Digital Service. From scaling COVID Alert across Canada to redesigning prison money management at the UK Ministry of Justice, I've shipped public services that work for the people using them.
I founded Civiq to broaden the work. The questions that pull me most don't sit inside any single department: how government uses technology to serve people better. Working independently lets me partner across jurisdictions, bringing what I've learned in one place to the work in another.
On larger engagements, I partner with like-minded boutique firms who share my approach. Whether you're working with me directly or through a strategic partner, you get the same thing: a seasoned practitioner whose work leaves your team stronger, capable of carrying it forward after I'm gone.
